It's Never Too Late

Although "self love" is not commonly used in psychology research, psychologists often view self-love as a crucial aspect of well-being. In fact, many regard having positive feelings about the Self as the factor most closely linked to happiness.

Loving oneself is an integral part of human life. It is closely associated with healthy and fulfilling relationships, psychological resilience, and fulfilling self-growth. It also blesses us with better physical and mental health, greater life satisfaction and life balance, and a more positive attitude toward life.

The importance of self-love and the critical role it plays in all of our lives can not be overstated. It's essential.

When you love and accept your Self, you’re more likely to have positive relationships, set healthy boundaries, have less stress, better cope with adversity, and have a strong sense of self-worth and resilience.

 

So, I decided to develop this new series for our 2024-25 season. It's all about taking a look at and learning (or improving) upon the traits involved in fostering, nurturing, and practicing self-love.

 

I’ve named it, It’s Never Too Late, because I wholeheartedly believe it is never too late to cultivate, care for, and practice self-love.

 

But as with most things in life, we have to do the work on this, to make it good and real. And I know for certain that journaling is our perfect tool to help us do just that.​

10 signs of lack of self-love

Since a healthy amount of self-love has such beneficial qualities, you can probably guess that a lack of self-love can be detrimental.

​

Self-love is a fundamental human component in leading a happy and fulfilling life. To neglect it can negatively impact one’s quality of life, physical and mental health, and social relationships.
 

Here are some potential signs of low self-love:

​

  1. Perfectionism and fear of failure

  2. Avoidance of self-care and neglect of personal needs

  3. Tolerating toxic or abusive relationships

  4. Difficulty saying "no" and over-committing

  5. Comparing oneself unfavorably to others

  6. Negative self-talk and constant self-criticism

  7. Difficulty setting and maintaining healthy boundaries

  8. Seeking external validation and approval excessively

  9. Engaging in self-sabotaging behaviors

  10. Chronic feelings of inadequacy or low self-esteem

The program details

  • A 9-part, monthly workshop (to help birth a new you!)

  •  Oct. (2 episodes) and Nov. 2024: Jan. Feb. March, April, May,  June 2025.

​

  • Wednesdays from 7-9pm EST

​

  • Duration: 1 1/2 - 2 hours

​​

  • A deep dive into the topic of the month, including discussion. Each topic will be an element or elements that comprise self-love.

​​

  • After the deep dive, there will be journaling using Great Q's (questions) that I provide for you. These questions will help you examine the element of self-love in your own life, and plan a way to improve, grow, nurture, and maintain this element of self-love.
